Description
Abstract
The US Census Bureau census tracts for the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Tract boundaries are released from the Census Bureau every 10 years. Includes population (POP), dwelling units (DU), race and Hispanic attributes. Source: Census redistricting data [P.L. 94-171] summary files.
Purpose
The data are created to serve as base information for use in GIS systems for a variety of planning and analysis purposes.
Supplemental information
The 2010 census tract relationship files are provided here as a tool to help compare the universe of Census 2000 tracts to the universe of 2010 Census tracts. From these files, data users may determine how Census 2000 tracts relate to 2010 Census tracts and vice versa.

Process Description
The geometry and attributes were downloaded from the 2010 census redistricting web site. http://www.census.gov/rdo/data/2010_census_redistricting_data_pl_94-171_summary_files.html Attribute names were chosen by Metro to be consistent with previous census tract layers.
