The political boundary showing the area that is subject to Metro's regulatory and taxing authority and the area that has elected representation on the Metro Council. The Oregon Legislature drew the Metro boundary that covers the Portland metropolitan area.

The boundary was digitized based on the 1979 adopted legal description of the boundary. The boundary was registered to the ODOT detailed street map.

The met_fill.shp has been renamed to metro.shp. The met_line.shp was removed from RLIS Lite, due to the fact that metro.shp can be symolized with an outline if a line is needed.

Process Description
Metro ordinance 11-1264B adopted 10/20/11 brought four new areas into the UGB plus an additional small area that had been a hole in the UGB. These areas were also added to the Metro District Boundary as a result of 2009 Oregon State Legislation that automatically expands the Metro District Boundary with UGB expansions.

Process Description
The course of the Metro District Boundary that follows the boundary between the states of Oregon and Washington was updated to precise state boundary line coordinates. The boundary between Oregon and Washington is defined by ORS 186.520 which lists latitude and longitude coordinate stations connected by a series of straight lines along length of the boundary.
